The Halberdier 36 was designed for Moodys by Alan Hill, and was the first all-GRP yacht built by the yard. A total of 29 were moulded by Marcon (Marine Construction Ltd., Plymouth), and finished by Moodys, between 1967 and 1973.

Most Halberdiers had 35 hp Perkins engines, but this yacht has a larger engine, a 48 hp Perkins, with substantially increased tankage.

Despite the 'motor sailer' tag, the Halberdier is a genuine sailing yacht, with a classic long keel hull form and a powerful rig.

Bellrock II is part 1 registered in the U.K.
She is an ideal boat for living aboard and for sailing single handed. She has been cruised in British and European Atlantic waters.
She is now lying ashore in Povoa de Varzim, Portugal and has undergone refurbishment. Povoa de Varzim is a short metro ride from Porto airport and is a friendly and very well priced marina. Baiona in spain is only a 10 hour sail and short hops down the coast will take you to the Algarve very quickly.

She has been anti-fouled and has had many new items added, including navigation lights.

Easy access from Porto airport to Povoa de Varzim via the metro and discounted hotel accomodation can be arranged.

Steering
Provided by wheel and connected via a drive shaft and rack and pinion to rudder. There is an electric self steering fitted, although old this has proved very reliable

Engine Room
Below wheelhouse through lifting floor panels
Perkins 48hp diesel engine, Port and Starboard fuel tank, each approx. 50 gallons
Aux day tank of 31 litres has been fitted, but as yet not plumbed. The fittings for this are provided inclusive.

Two batteries of 110AH fitted. 1 starter and 1 domestic. A third 110AH battery to operate bow thrusters and anchor winch, is under seat opposite the sink in the galley.
Switches to connect or disconnect charging to batteries are under starboard seats in wheelhouse.
All batteries are normally connected together and charged by the wind generator and solar panels.
With shore power connected the battery charger to the starboard side of the engine, provides 12v to the domestic system as well as charging the batteries. The engine alternator provides power when the engine is running.

Bilge Pumps
Whale gusher hand pump is under the starboard seat in the wheelhouse. An electric pump is fitted on the battery box in engine compartment, with switch adjacent.

Pressurised Water system

Hot Water
Supplied when engine running via clarifier under seat opposite navigation table in galley. There is also a 240v immersion heater, but his has been disconnected and would require checking before re-instating.

Sails
There are two sets of sails new in 2007. One set has never been used, the other set only need servicing.

Masts
There is external roller reefing for the mainsail and Genoa. Both operated from the wheelhouse. She has been sailed successfully single handed in the English Channel and across the Bay of Biscay as well as the Atlantic Coast of Spain and Portugal.
